Sometimes, what we do just feels right. In November, I and some of the most talented creatives in the world were asked to help Montefiore create a tribute to the heroes of 2020 who gave everything to keep the rest of us safe.
Throughout spring, every evening at 7 pm, New Yorkers had clapped, cheered, banged pots and pans, and sung in support of the healthcare workers fighting to save lives. By late November, COVID was starting to spike again. Yet, New York had stopped celebrating the people, still working around the clock at hospitals throughout the city.
And so, together with the Orchestra of the Bronx and New Yorkers, we brought back the 7pm celebration. In a visual poem spread across the city — we surprised, delighted, and shared New York's genuine gratitude, thus reigniting the 7pm celebration. Even the Emmy's agreed.
